The Sharks ladies tackle team came away from Charles Riley reserve with a well deserved 19-12 victory over the Sea Eagles on Friday night with tries from Marla Williams, Ainsley BuchananParis Rophia and Stacey Tearifi - and superb 30m field goal from Melissa Buchanan.
In a highly entertaining game the Sharks put in a solid first half as the home side challenged their defensive line with there game in the balance at the break - North beach ahead 6-4.
But the Sharks ladies went into the second half focussed on what they needed to do, stuck to their structure and backed themselves to challenge Beach through our middles to set the foundation which enabled our backline to build on.
The ladies where persistent and maintained their discipline and they started to points on the board with some awesome team tries off the back of some really solid defensive efforts.
Leading 18-12 with three minutes to go they had an attacking set 30m out, giving Melissa Buchanan the opportunity to seal the win with the field goal.
"As a coach I was very proud of all our ladies efforts. They played some excellent rugby completing all their attacking sets and maintaining their composure to come away with a well deserved win, coach James Cole said.
"Thanks to North Beach for hosting the game and for their hospitality, and thanks to all the supporters for coming up and cheering on the ladies.
"And thank you to our league safe boys CJ and Lumpy and sports trainer Jack and team manager Bec."
